HKS Detroit Design Fellowship 2009

The HKS Design Fellowship was initiated to cultivate emerging design talent, excite and stimulate new design approaches and benefit the communities we serve. The HKS Design Fellowship will be awarded to up to three architectural or interior design students enrolled in local universities. Students must be nominated by a professor.

Please submit the following with your nomination:
1. A brief letter from the professor who is nominating you
2. An 8.5" x11" page showing your work, life or design creativity. The requirements for the one page are intentionally vague. It can be a single picture, a collage or artwork reflecting who you are.
3. Please send nominations and questions to Carol Johnson Kartje, AIA, IIDA, LEED AP, Vice President, HKS Detroit, at ckartje@hksinc.com by January 9, 2009.

Fellowship Retreat Program Outline for February 26-27 2009:
Thursday PM - Introductions and orientation to charrette problem
Friday AM - Teams begin working on charrette problem
Friday PM - Wine and cheese, Jury Review and HKS Firm Philosophy discussion

The HKS Detroit Design Fellowship is an intense, full-day charrette where young professionals come together with civic leaders and academic professors to solve challenges and shape communities through design. This year the focus is the Michigan Central Station – a historical landmark that was once the gateway to Detroit. (Please See Attached Document: HKS_Call_for_Nominees)
